Shell-shocked: Young lions play with tortoise

12 Oct

We’ve posted some great images of playful lion cubs on the blog before – remember the fun and games with a scaly pangolin? And it seems young lions have a soft spot for unattainable, armoured playthings. This time, the entertainment comes in the form of a leopard tortoise:

The initial inspection is not particularly energetic.

When lazy pawing fails, the teeth come out (its fate might look precarious at this point, but the turtle's shell can handle more than a play bite or two).

A brief dispute for tortoise rights is settled with a snarl.

Curiosity satisfied, the victor poses with his spoils.
