VIDEO: Eagle owl swoops towards camera in slow motion

13 Oct

We tracked down this great video clip via The Thoughtful Animal blog. It’s easy to appreciate the avian magnificence of the eagle owl when it’s advancing towards you in tantalizing slow motion (the video was shot at 1,000fps).

The massive wingspan (an average of 6 feet) hits you first as the huge animal swoops towards the camera – just before the impressive talons unfurl in all of their lethal glory (these mighty weapons can easily crush the bones of small mammals … and even foxes and roe deer). And just for interest’s sake, the species in this video hails from the same family as the owl that was spotted on a window ledge in a busy street in Devon in southwestern England recently.
