Would you like some sauce with that? Meet the spaghetti worm!

1 Nov

Halloween has come and gone, but it seems the creepy creatures are staying put for a while. Like this little looker – the spaghetti worm.

I send forth mine tentacles...

Those gelatinous-looking tentacles (from which the animal gets its common name) grasp about on the ocean floor for bits of the dead and the decaying (while the rest of the body stays happily ensconced in a sandy tube). Any tasty bits of organic gunk are promptly lassoed into the mouth.

The good news? They might look a little creepy, but those tentacles are not out for your blood. Spaghetti worms come in peace.
