Dangerous encounters: Our top shark videos

4 Aug

Our latest episode of Wild Oceans showcases some amazing shark footage to mark this year’s Shark Week. When it comes to these awesome ocean predators, our film crews have pretty much seen it all. Watch out for some incredible footage of a close encounter with the formidable great white and a run-in with the largest living fish species: the whale shark.

Cameraman Graeme Duane takes his chances with a great white shark.

Dwarfed by the sea's biggest fish: Cameraman Barry Skinstad films the massive whale shark.

If that doesn’t satisfy your craving for shark-themed videos, we’ve got plenty more exhilarating experiences to share. Click here to watch formidable-looking ragged-tooths in their cavernous hideouts off the South African coast. They’re actually pretty docile as far as sharks go, but their toothy jaws and fearsome appearance say otherwise. A dive site known as Raggie Cave has become a well-known meeting place for dozens (sometimes hundreds) of these animals.

Inside the ragged-tooth's lair.

And since we’re talking about numbers, watch as our crew becomes surrounded on all sides by a band of blackfin sharks.

Jaws! The crew keeps calm as the band of blackfins circles.
