Two bulls in the valley May 21 2008
On a late afternoon in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, in South Africa, the Earth-Touch crew encountered two lone bulls: an African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) and a nyala (Tragelaphus angasii).
At the stripe-coated nyala’s feet as it drank was an African pied wagtail (Motacilla aguimp). From this little black and white bird to an African buffalo bull is quite a change of scale, and this big, black specimen in prime condition was a picture of power.
Horns gleaming, it moved around in the green bushes on the river bank before seeking shade.
