Sharks: Rescuing a killer reputation

9 Jun

Magnificent and misunderstood.

If, like us, you’re seriously unhappy with the way sharks are [mis]represented in popular culture (thanks, Jaws…) and the mainstream press, then this is the TED Talk for you. With World Ocean Day just behind us and Shark Week looming ahead like a fin slicing through water, isn’t it time we accept that the sea’s top predators are not single-minded killers constantly trawling the shoreline for hapless human snacks?

Renowned underwater photographer Amos Nachoum asks us to – literally – shake off all our preconceptions and empower ourselves with a new understanding of sharks that’s firmly grounded in scientific knowledge and fact. Bravo!
