7 Oct

Fridays are all about winding down and making weekend plans so we never post anything too serious on these most cheerful days of the working week. Instead, we bring you some visually inspiring photos from our Flickr group.

2. Banded Mongoose (Mungos mungo) Gebande Muishond by Peet van Schalkwyk

Group of banded mongoose

Banded Mongoose (Mungos mungo) Gebande Muishond, Kruger National Park, South Africa. Late afternoon. This was about 20 km south of Skukuza. We saw them far in front & we stopped & waited. After about 10 minutes they approached us & I then it was ideal to take the photos. The group was probably more than 50 individuals.

3. Zoo Flowers by Picture Taker 2

Dew on flowers

The St. Louis Zoo has some very beautiful landscaping along with its fabolus collection of animals. I doubt that most people ever look at it because they are there to see the animals. I was there early on Wednesday morning while the dew was still hanging heavy and got some really nice shots that in a couple of hours was dried up and gone. The flowers are in sunlight and the leaves still in shadows. Some more of GOD'S wonders that few people ever see.

9. Thumb Sucker by Picture Taker 2

Chimpanzee

Really liked that thumb and it gave me an opportunity for a somewhat "unusual" capture. Looks pretty good large. Some nice detail there.

10. Birders Paradise by Erwin Luesink

The Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea is a very important bird migration stopover and wintering site. It is for a reason a Ramsar site and on the UNESCO world heritage list.
